In addition to neurofeedback services, our clinic is home to several therapists who offer brainspotting, couples therapy, and individual therapy. Based on the research of Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, we believe that the most effective healing of truama occurs when neurofeedback is combined with other brain and body-based trauma modalities like brainspotting and EMDR.
Kaka Ray, LMFT
Kaka Ray has been in private practice since the early 2000s, and continues to see a limited number of clients for trauma work in conjunction with neurofeedback. Over the course of her career, she has specialized in marital crisis and trauma resolution. For the past decade, Kaka has focused on cutting-edge techniques and brain-based therapeutic approaches to identify core client challenges and provide faster pathways to healing. Through the implementation of brainspotting and neurofeedback , Kaka partners with clients seeking to heal from trauma and develop an integrated, regulated mind.
Kelsi Ray, MMFT
In addition to running TN Neurofeedback and serving as a neurotherapist, Kelsi maintains a small private practice with a focus on brainspotting and couple’s therapy. Kelsi completed her graduate work in Marriage and Family Therapy at Trevecca after undergraduate and graduate studies in Classics and Medieval Art. Like Kaka, Kelsi’s work centers on the integration of therapy and neurofeedback to promote the optimal conditions for healing the brain, so that clients can experience lasting change.
Kelsi Ray is pursuing licensure in the state of TN for Marriage & Family Therapy, under the supervision of Dr. Sara Hopkins, LMFT, license 928.
Neurofeedback + Therapy
Neurofeedback and therapy go hand in hand. As neurofeedback trains the brain and calms the central nervous system, the mind becomes more willing and able to process trauma and issues in therapy. Investing in neurofeedback increases the effectiveness and efficiency of your work in talk therapy. Meanwhile, brainspotting and talk therapy allow you to process the deeper held traumatic memories that become more accessible as your brain heals through neurofeedback.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a brain-based psychotherapy approach that uses the field of vision to find where individuals are holding trauma and negative experiences. Therapists who use brainspotting techniques can access the subcortical part of the brain where trauma is held, enabling clients to heal from traumatic experiences rather than just cope with symptoms.
By utilizing precise eye position and bilateral sound stimulation, brainspotting enables the brain to respond more effectively and willingly to therapy. Brainspotting occurs in a typical one-on-one therapy session and can be modified to suit any individual’s needs.
